TOGETHER WE CAN!
The Lakota word, Wakanyeja, means Children. More specifically, it means Sacred Gift: Wakan = sacred), Yeja = Gift.
A snapshot of our Vision for Community Restoration through the Wakanyeja program:First: Wakanyeja is a program that is offered by US and for US. We use our own giftings and skills to change the lives of our Wakanyeja! We ask Relatives with various life experiences to teach us. From Fry bread to proper emergency response. From building worm farms to fishing. TOGETHER we are learning how to be community.
Second: We EAT! We can do all sorts of things but when we are hungry…well that becomes our main focus. So goal number one EAT a nutritious meal. Come to eat at 10am.
Third: Wakanyeja is youth life skills training and practice in building and caring for God’s Kingdom by the People of God. It’s biblical teaching, leadership development, food sovereignty, and community participation, all wrapped up in engaging hands-on projects. AND you’ll earn a badge! Every Warrior will earn badges and promotions! Our program is adapted from Royal Rangers with Assemblies of God.
